Our Christmas jumper day raised funds on their behalf.
We all had £200 each to donate to charity. What did we choose?
Each Christmas every member of our team gets to spend £200 of company profits on charitable gifts from goodgifts.org.
This is our 16th year of doing this!
Today I want to tell you about the gifts our team have selected for those in the UK.
We are donating funds to plant trees and woods along river banks and flood plains.
We're helping to clear forest debris from bluebell woods to help them thrive.
We're buying 24m of greenbelt to protect it from developers.
We are providing a day's worth of dementia clubs, providing activities such as singing, knitting, baking and exercise classes to help slow deterioration.
We are donating money to feed UK schoolchildren through the holidays, who don't have access to the school meals they normally rely on, and providing housing for a homeless person for a week.
We are helping the elderly with pet food and vet bills and providing a Christmas hamper for someone who'd otherwise have nothing.
We are planting 35 trees for schools and community groups to combat global warming.
We're buying toys for zoo animals to make life more interesting, and buying 450g of wildflower seeds to help provide habitats for our bees.
We're also supporting many overseas projects. More details to come tomorrow!
Our monthly 'dress down' day raised funds on their behalf.
On the first Monday of each month IS staff can come to the Chapel in their casual clothes in return for a donation of £2 to the charity being supported. Staff can nominate any good cause they feel deserves a bit of extra help. This month we decided to support MIND, suggested by Debbie Bailey, our Finance and HR Officer
