Each year, at Christmas, IS Oxford sponsors a Village library project in India via the Good Gifts organization.

Our 2009 Village Library project is being set up in the state of Karnataka in southern India and is expected to be completed by the end of 2010. This area has rural villages and slum areas and the library will improve the lives of adults and children who only have access to a very basic level of education and facilities. The library is expected to carry between 500 and 1,000 books together with two daily newspapers.

More information together with photos (which we will publish on our website) will be sent by the RLHP (Rural Literacy and Health Programme) who are setting up and running our project when they are available. The library will be named after the village.
