What range of media do you hold in your library? Is it all catalogued on Heritage?
We hold a range of media types, from the traditional monographs to maps, pamphlets, videos and DVDs, conference proceedings on CD and electronic documents. It is all catalogued on Heritage.
What are your overall impressions of IS Oxford staff (this includes Sales, Training and Support staff, plus any Developers you may have dealt with)?
I have found all the ISOxford staff to be extremely polite and helpful, and they have often gone far beyond what you might expect in their efforts to solve a problem, or to provide a workaround where a solution cannot be implemented immediately.
What did you think of the Heritage training?
The great advantage of Heritage training is being able to arrange it to meet your specifications – if you need training on a couple of modules, this can be squashed together. We have had training both on our own site (when Heritage was first installed) and at IS Oxford for some refresher training with a new member of staff. Both were excellent – training staff are flexible and knowledgeable about the system, and on one occasion we even had a member of support there to explain some more in-depth inner-workings of the system, which was extremely useful.
How have you found the support service from IS staff?
Support are absolutely superb, often going above and beyond the call of duty to sort out problems, oddities, idiosyncracies of our highly customised system and indeed just altering things to our preferences. You couldn’t ask for better.
Have you used the support website? How useful did you find it?
I make regular use of the support website, occasionally for checking the status of open support calls, but mostly for access to helpsheets, which are in general easy enough to find and very helpful once you’ve found them!
Are you a member of Marvin, our list server? Do you find Marvin a useful service?
I’m a member of Marvin, and find it extremely useful – particularly for queries which aren’t quite worth going to support for. I have occasionally found out useful tips and tricks by monitoring marvin even when I’m not actively asking questions of it’s members!
How has Heritage improved the day-to-day running of the library and services offered to your users?
Heritage has been a huge improvement in terms of the search interface that our staff use – much more user-friendly than our previous in-house system. Recent updates have provided even better facilities, including saved searches and shared lists, which provide alternative ways of sharing search results (although this would be far more useful if we could share with specific people as well as ‘groups’!).
What are your favourite features in Heritage?
The saved lists feature in the new Online is an absolute favourite – perfect for literature searches, so we no longer have to have a couple of free hours at once to do it all in one session. Brilliant!
Do you have any other comments you would like to make about IS Oxford or Heritage? Would you recommend it/us to other libraries?
I would recommend Heritage to other libraries, both for the system flexibility and the excellent support.

TRL Limited have been using Heritage since 2007. They currently have four additional full access licences, five OPAC licences, the Serials Management Module (including Acquisitions), the Reader Import Module, the Heritage Connect Module, the Quickcat Online Module, the Inter-Library Loans Module and Heritage Online.
