Supporting Local Children

Mon, 01/09/2014 - 1:30pm

Our monthly 'dress down' day raised £26 for Wheatley Summer Kids Club.

On the first Monday of each month IS staff can come to the Chapel in their casual clothes in return for a donation of £2 to the charity being supported. Staff can nominate any good cause they feel deserves a bit of extra help. This month we are sponsoring Wheatley Summer Kid's Club, this year called MegaMakers. It’s run by a local group of volunteers, headed up by our own Dan Evenhuis, under an organisation called Fusion Youth & Community UK.

A note from Dan:

A huge thanks for your £26 of donations from August’s dress-down day.

Over the last week I’ve been running a kids club for 150 kids (148 turned up) and 96 volunteers (36 of those teenagers). It’s been such a fantastic week.

We live by the old African saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”. Bringing up kids is a lot of work, and as they progress through life, the kids are trying to work out the answers to the questions, “Who am I, What am I like, What are my values”. It is helpful for them to have positive role-models outside of the immediate family whom they can aspire to, and this week was such a great success in respect to this. We’ve been running for 11 years now, many teens and young adults have grown up through this work and are developing beautifully (I’m still growing and developing as I engage with this work as well).

So thanks again for your support. We don’t charge for this event (but ask for donations) as we want to encourage families that might be a bit tight financially, so your donation really helped.

Celebrating 2 years of Support weekly emails!

Thu, 17/07/2014 - 2:59pm

Heritage users have enjoyed over 100 'hints and tips' emails to date.

Every Tuesday our Sales Manager, Emma Duffield, sends an email to all Heritage and Heritage Cirqa users. Email topics vary from reminders of useful keystrokes and little-used features through to whole topics such as ways of using Heritage to promote your library. These emails have proved incredibly popular with our users and are all archived on the Support website (cirqasupport.com) ensuring that Emma has to think of something completely new every time!

New @JustAskCirqa Service Launched!

Tue, 01/07/2014 - 2:23pm

Support via Twitter for quick questions.

We are delighted to announce that we are trialling a new Support Service via Twitter. Open to all Heritage and Heritage Cirqa users with a current support contract, it is a quick way of getting answers to simple 'how to' questions, as well as a way of requesting new functionality and help documentation. We cannot promise immediate answers as it is a service being offered by Emma Duffield, our Sales Manager, and Alex Smolonska, our Sales Liaison Officer, rather than the Support Services team. Tweets will not be logged against a customer record. Emma and Alex have nearly 30 years of experience with Heritage between them so they are able to answer a wide range of queries. If in doubt, just ask!
