Heritage Cirqa fits most small to medium sized libraries well, but it fits the requirements of colleges best of all. Well over half of the Colleges of FE in the UK use Heritage or Heritage Cirqa, and an increasing number of HE institutions have adopted Heritage Cirqa in recent years.
The key to success in this sector is the combination of software design and pricing. Heritage Cirqa software has all the sophisticated functions required to run efficiently in a demanding and busy college environment, but is also priced in such a way to make widespread implementation around the institution affordable. Perhaps just as importantly, the costs of ongoing support are modest in comparison to many alternative systems. Colleges moving to Heritage Cirqa from certain competitor systems have found that they pay less for the whole Heritage Cirqa implementation and first three years of support than they would have paid their previous supplier for support in the same period!
A range of colleges use Heritage Cirqa, not just FE and HE institutions. Other users include a large number of 6th Form colleges and specialist institutions such as medical libraries and theological colleges. We have also made recent inroads into the University sector.
Of the Top 20 colleges in FE Week's first ever ranking table, published in September 2017, Exeter College, Eastleigh College, Kendal College, Barnsley College, Bracknell & Wokingham College, Bridgwater College, Cambridge Regional College, Chichester College, Dudley College, New College Durham, Runshaw College, South Devon College and West Suffolk College all use Heritage Cirqa. A full Heritage Cirqa site list is available on request.
We have a number of brief case studies of implementations of Heritage in colleges that you can read, just click on the links below. Please bear in mind that some sites have used Heritage for over 21 years so some of the case studies are older than others.
